POLLYWOG was a dream which Adventist Development and Relief Agency International (ADRA) brought into reality by giving work to 200 ladies needing a way to support their families. Its name was chosen for this very reason: it was an embryo type project. Today, many years later, POLLYWOG is filling a real need in providing opportunity for widowed, orphaned, abandoned and poor women to support themselves and their families by doing beautiful cross-stitch. They work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, in a well-lit, ventilated and equipped workroom at the Seventh-day Adventist mission in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Quality and uniqueness of product have top priority. Your support of POLLYWOG changes women without hope into self-respecting, cheerful, productive women and is greatly appreciated. This project is a mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, brought into being by Muriel McHenry, who went with her husband there in 1976, and found a need. When she came back to the United States, she began the international project here.
Many people here have been inspired by her dedication to the women of Bangladesh, and have begun distributing their products for you to enjoy. Even after her death in 2009, her loyalty to the Pollywog Project lives on. Thank you for joining us in this important mission.
